| Under the guidance of Aarón Sanchez, who serves as a menu consultant, this cantina serves up good, honest Mexican food in a festive, brightly decorated space in East Fourth’s party-ready neighborhood. A patio adorned with dozens of strands of twinkling lights attracts thirsty guests, who casually enjoy huge margaritas while perusing a menu of familiar Mexican fare. The menu is nearly as extensive as the tequila list, which features more than 70 different brands of the dizzying elixir. For dinner, we like the fish tacos, which combine a fresh corn tortilla with seared mahi mahi in chipotle-lime glaze with fresh cabbage slaw and avocado. The guacamole is another item not to be missed---it's prepared tableside, so you decide how much cilantro, jalapeño, onions and tomatoes to include. At night, the eatery morphs from mild-mannered restaurant to high-octane nightlife destination; it might not be suited to some, but it certainly draws the crowds. |
