| Even after a round of musical chefs, SoHo mainstay Zoë remains on top of the restaurant game, thanks to the focused vision of owners (and wine fans) Thalia and Stephen Loffredo and managing partner Scott Lawrence. Bright, seasonal dishes continue Zoë's trademark of innovative contemporary American cooking inflected with international flourishes. Try the crispy calamari with Vietnamese dipping sauce or the stacked antipasto of grilled portobello, fresh mozzarella, marinated peppers, arugula and basil emulsion. Main dishes might include aged goat cheese ravioli “fra diavolo” made with San Marzano tomatoes and shaved Grana Padano; the Asian spiced hanger steak with sticky scallion rice cake, baby bok choy and plum barbecue sauce; or one of the delightful pizzas from the wood-burning oven. Whatever you get, you’re sure to notice the vegetables, which are always much more than just side dishes. The Loffredos also offer well-respected wine pairings. |
