Another Fifth Avenue destination for locals and a growing number of visitors. There are a lot of quarter-century traditions here including attention to detail and appetizers like mushroom-and-Brie strudel and crispy tuna roll. One favorite is the complimentary bread basket---certainly not unheard of but particularly welcome here. Main courses include all the standards: chicken, pasta, veal, beef, fish and lamb---all standouts. Evening specials are unpredictable but always reliable: oven-roasted scallops in a half-shell is a popular choice. Other favorites include homemade veal meat loaf served with the traditional garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables du jour and pan gravy. The increasingly popular portobello shows up in a wild mushroom risotto that combines grilled portobellos, asparagus and a tomato-tarragon vinaigrette.
