THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Zoya Restaurant Review:

This unpretentious and friendly establishment is in one of the city's more offbeat locations: a two-level tower adjacent to the Days Inn. The downstairs hosts the kitchen and a lounge area, and after climbing the Astroturf stairs, diners are seated upstairs in the quirky and drafty circular room. The décor is understated and casual, with wood banquettes, silk curtains, and café au lait-colored walls. The small menu is in keeping with the small size of the restaurant (there are only six tables upstairs). The New American selections mirror how many tend to cook at home: tasty preparations but nothing really groundbreaking, and with a few missteps. For example, a grilled portobello mushroom is served on wilted spinach, a slice of tomato and goat cheese, with a touch of balsamic and herbs: good, but nothing new. The biggest hits with diners are the braised short ribs and a seared ahi salad with a savory soy-mustard vinaigrette. The tenderloin salad, however, had frustratingly small pieces of beef and was overpowered with Gorgonzola, while blue lake beans were served barely lukewarm, with the odd topping of blue cheese. Desserts are ice cream-based, like cherries jubilee and bananas Foster.
