Zucca Restaurant Review: Zucca is the real thing --- a genuine Italian restaurant with good food served in a no-nonsense, big white space by enthusiastic staff. It’s the brainchild of chef/owner Sam Harris, who started off rather unexpectedly in the modest Maltings Café on Tower Bridge Road. Antipasti of hams, homemade porchetta or carpaccio of sea bass; imaginative pastas such as pork and fennel ragù with pecorino; followed by chargrilled veal chops with spinach: it’s all well done, with the emphasis on straightforward flavors. You can see the food being prepared in the large open kitchen. It’s a fun and buzzing place, though beware if you’re on a romantic date, as it invariably gets noisy and it’s pretty cramped. |
