Kōloa Rum Corporation was founded in 2001 to produce and market world-class, small-batch micro-distilled Hawaiian Rum that is made from Kauai sugarcane. It took the company eight years to bring the first legally manufactured Kauai rum to market. The product is distilled in a vintage copper pot still which was bought in Kentucky and moved to the Hawaiian island. Named for the first Hawaiian sugar mill, Kōloa Rum comes in light, gold and dark varieties. The gold has a strong, sweet vanilla flavor without a lot of subtle notes to it. One sure way to improve the flavor: sip it at the tasting room on Kauai! The rums are also available in California, and the company is working on distributing it throughout the mainland.
