DAY 3

Kilauea Point to Princeville

While it's hard to check out of the Grand Hyatt, there are new places to see and enjoy as you make your way north. Stop at the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and take a self-guided walk through the dramatic coastal scenery of this sea bird sanctuary. If you're there in the months from December to February, keep a close watch out for whales offshore.

Lodging options include The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, which are known for their spacious units and spectacular views of Hanalei Bay. At every turn, you will be dazzled by glistening white sand beaches, tropical flowers, azure sky, sparkling ocean and quite possibly, a rainbow or two. Wander downstairs for dinner at the Nanea Restaurant & Bar and savor dishes like Huli Huli chicken, the ahi wrap or seafood bruschetta.

DAY 4

Romance on the Beach

Shopping at Hanalei town on Kauai

After breakfast, set out to explore the lush scenery you've been gazing down upon. Princeville has three secluded beaches, and it's a must to walk along the expanses of sand that hug the coastline, from picture-perfect Hanalei Bay all the way to Kee Beach. There is no need to rush along the scenic roadway, which runs through tropical rainforests and beneath towering mountains. Pause at whatever beaches strike your fancy: they're all enticing, and in summer, are safe for swimming. In winter, sit on the beach, watch the big swells crash on shore and feel the power of nature. Sunsets are legendary along this stretch of the island, so take your time. You can shop for a special memento at one of the charming shops in Hanalei and then have dinner at Bar-Acuda, which offers an ever-changing menu of tapas and small plates that feature the freshest seasonal ingredients. Heighten the passion with a deliciously romantic stroll along Hanalei Bay as the moon traces a path on the ocean and the stars twinkle above. This is paradise found.

DAY 5

Kauai is known for its stunning beaches, such as Tunnels beach in Hanalei

Kayaking the Hanalei River

Craving some outdoor adventure? Head out to Kayak Kauai (www.kayakkauai.com) for a leisurely paddling tour in a double kayak past the taro fields and coconut trees that line the Hanalei River. Wind down back at the resort by relishing Kauai's stunning views one last time before checking out. You will have made enough romantic memories to last a lifetime.
