MONTEREY TOUR: DAY 3

Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach Golf Links

For some, a reservation to play golf at the legendary Pebble Beach Links is a lifelong dream. If you do have a tee time, plan on taking breakfast inside the gates of Pebble at Roy's, part of Roy Yamaguchi’s Hawaiian fusion empire. The restaurant, overlooking the greens of Spanish Bay will warm you up before you take on the challenges of any of Pebble’s courses.

If golf isn’t your game, discover Pacific Grove and Monterey. A walk along Lover’s Point affords glimpses of unique marine life in the Monterey Bay sanctuary and the breathtaking rugged scenery of the coast. If you’re drawn to the water and want to learn more about area sea life, you — and your family — will benefit from a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Stop for lunch in the heart of Pacific Grove (also known as Butterfly Town, USA) on Lighthouse Avenue. Just look for an old red Victorian house, aptly named Red House Café. Score one of the few porch tables and enjoy the delicious rotating soups and creative sandwich selections with savory fillings like the pork tenderloin on rosemary focaccia bread with sage aioli, or grilled cheese with Fontina, artichoke hearts and roasted red pepper.

The Path of History and the Monterey Art Walk gives visitors a chance to see Monterey for themselves on complimentary self-guided strolls through old downtown. Each tour incorporates architectural, artistic and historical sites. To learn more about the history of Cannery Row, select the Cannery Row Historic Walk. Similar to the Historic Monterey tour, the route follows that of the old Southern Pacific Railroad. Guided tours are also available.
