Take heart and look down at the Rio Grande, 650 feet below. During springtime, you will see rafters among the rapids.

Over 150 people still live permanently within the Pueblo , which does not have electricity or running water. First settled over 1000 years ago, the Taos Pueblo is one of the oldest of its kind. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors are welcome as long as they are respectful of the Pueblo residents' privacy and traditions. Guided tours are provided for a donation; photography requires an additional fee. Check the website for annual closure times.
