From cruises and yachting to sailing and small boat excursions, luxury travel has come to include many forms of aquatic transportation. Variety Cruises stands out in the yachting market for its concept of providing a private yacht/ship experience with destination-focused journeys and long history. Although Variety Cruises began in 2006, its roots go back well before the beginning of the 21st century.

Variety Cruises was created with the merging of Zeus Tours, Yacht Cruises and Hellas Yachts. Zeus Tours was founded by Diogenis Venetopoulos in 1949 as a travel agency. Today, Variety Cruises is still run by the founding family (Constantine Ventopoulos is the director of sales). It consists of more than ten ships and yachts, including the newest — slated to launch in 2012 — the M/Y Variety Voyager, a state-of-the-art mega yacht with 36 cabins.

The focus may be the destination — meaning in-depth exposure to the local culture and history — but that isn't to say that the ships are lacking. All vessels include telephones and satellite television, and aboard small ships, passengers will find dining rooms featuring beautiful vistas, spacious sun decks and cozy lounges; the M/Y Harmony V even has a mini spa. More than twelve scheduled itineraries are available to top cruise destinations, such as Greece, Turkey and West Africa, as well as Variety's own cruise programs to the Adriatic, South Italy and Malta, South France and the Arabian Gulf.
