Historical
Hideaway
A Best-kept Secret
from the 1400s
by
Sophie Gayot
Built
in 1476, then destroyed and rebuilt several times, the
Hostellerie du Château de Salles has had a tumultuous
history. Perched on a hill overlooking the Cère
Valley, it was used as a watchtower for hundreds of years.
Today, with a twenty-acre park and the surrounding Cantal
Mountains, nothing disturbs the peaceful ambience floating
over this castle.
All
the rooms and bathrooms have been totally redone with
antique furniture. They are different in style, size and
location, making it easy to pick one that suits your style.
Whether you spend your days visiting the numerous historical
sites in the area, buying Cantal cheese at the local farms,
playing golf, or just relaxing around the pool, you will
enjoy lingering in the beautiful lounge in the evening,
before or after dinner at the restaurant. And if you decide
to host a seminar, the conference room has all the necessary
equipment. A fitness area will help you keep in shape
after your working sessions.
As
you travel around Europe, the Hostellerie du Château
de Salles will ensure that France is one of your favorite
destinations. With its fresh air, views, golf, swimming
pool, restaurant and lounge, it is one of those secrets
best kept to yourself.
