Poitou

carved the départements of Vendée,
Deux-Sèvres, the two Charentes, and Vienne.
The entire history of medieval and modern France
can be deciphered in the region's landscape and
monuments. Inhabited since the earliest of human
history, and covered—like all of western France—with
