TThis fall, the Hawaii International Film Festival celebrates its 30th year of connecting the peoples and cultures of Asia, the Pacific and North America through cinema. Since 1981, it has been the primary source for the discovery and exhibition of Asian and Pacific feature films and documentaries in the United States. Distinguishing itself as a "true" international affair, HIFF boasts 200 films from approximately 40 countries around the world. In addition to screenings, the HIFF also conducts seminars, workshops and special award presentations.

For this upcoming festival, HIFF will introduce EuroCinema Hawai'i, a film festival within a film festival dedicated to the advancement of cultural exchange between Europeans and Hawaiians through film. EuroCinema Hawai'i will features a special section of films, people and events that will highlight European films with the express goal of increasing exposure to them in the islands.
