Standing Out From the Crowd

The Aztec pyramid-shaped Fairmont Acapulco Princess

What makes The Fairmont Acapulco Princess hotel stand out from the crowd is precisely the fact that it’s situated away from the crowds. Just ask the rich and famous that have been coming to the fifteen-story hotel since its doors opened in 1971. The hotel sprawls out over 480 acres of magnificent scenery on Revolcadero Beach, making it the perfect Mexican getaway in Guerrero. Where else can you check into lodgings in an open-air lobby surrounded by lilting water fountains, lush foliage, scented Bougainvillea and swaying palm trees, yet still be a mere 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown?

Yet The Fairmont Acapulco Princess is no shrinking violet. The Aztec pyramid-shaped hotel, which can be seen for miles, comprises three distinct Aztec-inspired buildings and recently underwent a $14 million refurbishment. It’s also impossible to miss the hotel’s claim to fame: two eighteen-hole championship golf courses; one for the Acapulco Princess, and the other for The Fairmont’s sister hotel next door—The Fairmont Pierre Marques. The Pierre Marques is a quaint, low-rise building, not as grandiose as the Acapulco Princess, but both are synonymous with upscale accommodations and are situated in the Diamante district—an exclusive stretch of real estate on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The district is part of a thriving new development area where many new hotels, apartments and condominium projects are springing up, including a world class conference center and shopping center.

So the only taxing question you'll need to deal with on your vacation here is what to do first: Undertake a round of golf; dine at one of the hotels’ myriad restaurants, bars and cafes located throughout the grounds; attend Mass in one of The Fairmont Acapulco Princess’s dedicated ballrooms which are transformed into a chapel for worshipers; or swim in one of the five free-form pools? We recommend the saltwater pool as an excellent option for those who still want to have the experience of swimming in the sea but are a little wary of the surf on the open beach, which can be rough at times.

Another “must do” at this high-end resort includes visiting the hotel’s Willow Stream Spa. Willow Stream Spas can be found at Fairmont hotels worldwide. At the Fairmont Acapulco Princess, linger in the lounge area while deciding on whether to undertake a couple’s massage, relax in the Jacuzzi or steam in the sauna. We recommend all three. The spa also features a boutique and beauty salon, where women can ditch their men and indulge in a heavenly pedicure or convince their man to join them. A dedicated fitness center is housed in a nearby separate building for those who feel they've over-indulged on the gorgeous local fare, and feel the need to burn some calories.

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess is the perfect getaway vacation to relax, recharge your work-weary limbs, soak up the sun and live in the lap of luxury overlooking the shimmering sands of the spectacular diamond in the rough that is the Acapulco Diamante district.
