Dining at Grand Hotel
One thing the diner at Grand Hotel has to understand is that on any given day, 3,000 or so meals are served. There are several dining options to choose from.
Salle a Manger: Walk into a time warp. Start your breakfast by gazing at Lake Huron. The main dining room has a capacity for 800 people in one sitting. For dinner there are two alternating menus with dishes such as roasted venison loin and a duck confit spring roll, or parsley and sunflower-crusted filet of Michigan trout.
The Terrace Room: If you're in the mood for dancing after dinner, the Terrace Room awaits for you to work off the calories you just picked up. Done in an Asian thememinus the Geishasthis lounge features big band music nightly, compliments of The Grand Hotel Orchestra.
Grand Luncheon Buffet: Served from noon to 2 p.m. daily, this buffet in the main dining room offers hot and cold gourmet entrées, seafood, salads, pastries and more.
Pool Grill: You can have your lunch cooked on the outdoor grill and enjoy it with a beverage by the pool.
Carleton's Tea Store: Lunch is served in this old-fashioned country store amidst homemade fudge, gifts, tea and kitchen items available for sale.
options: When you plan on being away from the hotel for the
day, you can still enjoy Grand Hotel's meals. Woods Restaurant
is located in the upper wooded portion of Mackinac Island and
is accessible by bicycle, carriage or on foot. Grand Picnic lunches
may be ordered on the evening prior to your day out from the maître
d'hôtel, in the form of four box lunches or a special picnic basket
for two. If you're spending the day golfing on The Jewel, have
lunch or dinner at the Jockey Club at the Grand Stand,
located on the first tee.
