A True History Lesson

Perhaps you've heard the stories about Americans who travel abroad. They tell natives of the foreign countries they visit that they come from America but Texans will tell you: "We are from Texas." Prior to becoming a state, Texas was a republic and today the Daughters of the Republic care for historical landmarks: starting with the Alamo. The Battle of the Alamo was a big deal and Texans take pride in their heritage. There is quite a bit of history in the Lone Star State and San Antonio is a charming place to experience it. If you are in San Antonio we believe that La Mansion is the absolute best dorm for your learning adventure.

A lot of history goes on here and the old college has been preserved and renovated over the years. Close to the Alamo and everything else, right on the Riverwalk, the location is prime—however it can be a bit noisy in the evening, should your room face the river. The management has trained its staff to be caring and attentive. A stay here should not disappoint. In fact one of the challenges will be to prioritize your activities.

For those in town on business either for a meeting or to attend a convention, you are in for a treat. Take the chance to experience the cuisine at Las Canarias restaurant, or visit many of the other serious dining establishments, jazz clubs and hot spots in the area. Afterwards you will want to take a cruise and stroll along the river bank to the Arneson River Theatre, which leads to the entrance of La Villita.

There is no doubt that La Mansion will double as a romantic getaway. There are 337 guest rooms and suites, each expressing the hotel's Spanish colonial influences in décor. Full amenities are provided, including a master bath in your room with dry sauna, jacuzzi, dressing table tub and separate shower. The Presidential Suite has a living room/dining room area with a balcony overlooking the river. Many celebrities have come here to load up on Texan hospitality: Kevin Costner, Julio Iglesias, Brooke Shields, Jerry Seinfeld, Yo Yo Ma, Bill Clinton and many more: so what are you waiting for? We promise you there is no test and no pressure in the old college.
