California connoisseurs have long been drawn to Torrey Pines State Reserve with its abundant native flora, intimate beaches, golden cliffs and absolutely other-worldly view of the rolling Pacific Ocean. The nearby coastal town of La Jolla is equally appealing with rugged rocks, tide pools en masse and a delightful curving coastline matched with posh neighborhoods, fine dining and a laissez-faire sophisticated charm. Located in one of the most picturesque resort towns on the Southern California coast, The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla has captured the attention of sophisticated travelers.

From the moment guests arrive, they are privy to the top-notch service standards that make this property special. Guests are greeted by doormen in kilted Scottish dress and the vistas of the Lodge's porte cochère. You're immediately transported 100 years back and the serene feeling that settles over you upon arrival never leaves you. Throughout the hotel, the staff is well-trained and service impeccable.

Paying homage to the California Craftsman style of architecture and the Greene & Greene homes in Pasadena, The Lodge at Torrey Pines was designed to respect the natural landscape. It beautifully integrates indoor and outdoor living with outside porches, a natural color palette, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich Jatoba woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Every detail of The Lodge at Torrey Pines is in true Greene & Greene fashion and exemplifies the tongue-and-groove structural style.

With spectacular views of the coastline, The Lodge boasts 170 spacious guest rooms, including six suites. Created with relaxation and comfort in mind, each guest room offers a fireplace, a patio and a view of the golf course or The Lodge's botanical garden. Custom-designed furniture, fabrics and carpets enhance the understated elegance. The small details — from Tiffany-style lamps and rich leather chaise lounges by the beds to oil-rubbed bronze fixtures and deep-soak tubs — make the guest rooms comfortable beyond expectation. The natural color palette complements the pristine beauty of the area's rare pines and sandstone formations.

An elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere is reflected in A. R. Valentien, the hotel's signature restaurant. Executive chef Jeff Jackson's impressive menu uses fresh, local provisions and changes daily to capture the essence of each ingredient. With an extensive list of California wines, the 90-seat restaurant continues to draw locals and guests alike. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can choose between The Grill and The Bar, as well as the Lodge's two comfortable lounges.

The 9,500 square-foot full-service Spa at Torrey Pines affords a relaxing ambiance in a truly beautiful setting. The spa menu offers restorative treatments for both men and women. Central to the spa experience are treatments utilizing marine and botanical-based products whose ingredients reflect the treasured Torrey Pines State Reserve. The Spa's signature treatment, the Coastal Sage Scrub, with Vichy shower, hearkens to the abundance of sage in the Reserve and is known for its purifying and detoxifying properties, while a Vichy shower is a wonderful way to relax and replenish the skin. In addition to 14 treatment rooms, the spa offers ample facilities, where guests can spend an afternoon utilizing the dry saunas, herbal-infused steam rooms, and a grand-scale pool is available year-round in the temperate climate.

A cardio/strength room features state-of-the-art treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary cycles and weight training equipment. Group fitness classes, such as yoga and pilates are conducted outside on the Arroyo Terrace, as well as daily private and group walks through the Torrey Pines State Reserve.

The Lodge is adjacent to the world-famous 7,698-yard South Course and the 7,045-yard North Course of the Torrey Pines Golf Course. This Rees Jones beauty is the site of the Annual Buick Invitational and hosted the U.S. Open in 2008. Guests can take advantage of a guaranteed tee time program, as well as inviting golf packages.

A short walk away from The Lodge is the breathtaking Torrey Pines State Reserve — one of San Diego's most beloved natural attractions. Guests of The Lodge can follow numerous trails through forests of rare Torrey Pine trees that grow from 20 to 50 feet tall. These unique yellow pines with five long needle clusters are an impressive site. The park preserves not only the trees, but also the last salt marshes and waterfowl refuges in Southern California. The magnificent sandstone formations and deep ravines on headlands overlook beautiful Blacks Beach along the Pacific Ocean.
