Upon six acres of landscaped gardens in Johannesburg, South Africa, lies the Saxon Hotel. South African history is the theme of the elegant setting and decor, which is designed to capture and embrace the natural environment. The glass-domed entrance hall features handcrafted ethnic art effects, and leads off to a boutique shop, piano lounge, smoking library and dining room. The dining room boasts a unique wine display and a host of world-class chefs. The cocktail bar is located near the koi pond, pool terrace, and—perhaps the most striking feature of the Saxon, the 920-square-meter swimming pool. For those wishing to conduct business at the hotel, a dining library and two boardrooms are available, with built-in computerized technology and trained technical management on standby. Saxon
has 26 suites, all with an African decor, latticed shutters over
large bay windows with a view of the gardens or pool area. Amenities
include large-screen TVs, VCR and DVD players and workstations.
