"Linger Longer." That's what the family born to this land — 30 acres of Georgia shoreline — once called it. Home to the calming waters of Lake Oconee and verdurous stands of tall Georgia pines, the property now known as Reynolds Plantation is a haven where visitors can find seclusion and forget about the outside world. What better setting could there possibly be for a Ritz-Carlton?

The legendary service of The Ritz-Carlton brand comes together with Southern charm and hospitality in the 251-room The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation. Accommodations also include Club Level rooms with three executive suites, golf cottages and a Presidential House. But no matter which type guests choose, they can feel close to nature from private terraces, while still enjoying in-room creature comforts such as custom-designed furniture in mahogany and cherry wood, feather beds, 400-thread count Frette linens, granite and marble bathrooms, luxury bath products, flat-screen televisions, iHome docking stations and fully stocked honor bars with refrigerators.

Further privacy can be found at any of the property's six lakeside cottages, each with a living room, butler pantry, wood-burning fireplace and a porch with views of Lake Oconee. Perfect for families who like to summer in the South, the spacious three-story Presidential House offers 5,400 square feet of living space, including four master bedroom suites with private baths, two additional guest baths, a formal dining room that seats sixteen, a living room with wood-burning fireplace, a first-floor Great Room with a pool table, game table, wet bar and large, flat-screen television, a screened-in back porch and a private heated outdoor pool overlooking the lake. To celebrate the South, the cottages and Presidential House offer the first and only The Ritz-Carlton BBQ Butler, a personal chef who assists guests in the selection of meat cuts, complimentary wood, specialty sauces and sides, and then prepares a made-to-order cookout.

If you're hungry for more, the lodge has six on-site dining venues from which to choose: Georgia's Bistro for contemporary cuisine; Linger Longer Steakhouse; Gaby's by the Lake with a casual poolside menu; Chiminea dining for a lakeside meal in Adirondack chairs by the bonfire; Lobby Lounge offering live music (Friday and Saturday nights); and The Pool Bar for light fare and beverages seasonally.

Relaxation is a priority at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, whether you prefer unwinding with a signature spa treatment or one of the many outdoor activities. The 26,000-square-foot spa facility offers water-themed therapies, body treatments, facials and massages, and includes a state-of-the-art fitness center. Outdoor activities range from calm and quiet to fun and exhilarating, with s'mores by the lake and romantic Chiminea dining, as well as kayaks, pontoon boats, jet skis and Segway tours.

If you'd rather linger on the links, you will find 99 holes of golf on the resort's five championship courses, which were designed by the game's most renowned architects, including Rees Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio and Bob Cupp. Guests can take lessons at the Reynolds Golf Academy with Top 100 instructor Charlie King, and get a club fitting at the TaylorMade Performance Lab, where the Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade (MATT) System is available.

With so much to do and see (and eat), we're not sure how anyone could get any work done on this property, but The Ritz-Carlton Lodge makes it easy with plenty of extras for business travelers, including a 24-hour business center, computers, printers, scanners and high-speed Internet access. For meetings and conferences, the property boasts more than 18,000 square feet of meeting space, including seventeen meeting rooms, a technology butler and on-site audio-visual services. Clearly, this is a place where work and play can find a balance, and where guests can customize their escape to meet their every need.
