Thompson Hotels and Joie De Vivre Hospitality merge

Two major hotel brands are joining forces, merging a casual West Coast aesthetic with high-end hotelier Jason Pomeranc's hip urban vibe. In early 2012, Joie de Vivre Hospitality and Thompson Hotels will become JT Hospitality, with 45 properties including 60 Thompson, The Hollywood Roosevelt, Carmel Valley Ranch and Ventana Inn & Spa. As a result, Thompson will benefit from Joie de Vivre's West Coast presence, while Joie de Vivre will gain exposure through Thompson's East Coast presence and international expansions into London and Toronto. Says Pomeranc, "We will be able to take the sensibilities and cultures of the two brands and spread them across different sectors and offer more accessibility with the various price points. Our owners will get the benefits of working with a bigger brand but still get the individuality of an independent." In addition to offering geographic diversity, the two brands will complement each other in positioning. Joie de Vivre is known for its eclectic properties with inventive designs, while Thompson operates design-drive luxury lifestyle hotels.
