Sacred Earth Journeys - Machu Picchu Travel Special

Celebrate the Spring Equinox in Machu Picchu

In the Southern Hemisphere, the spring equinox takes place in September. This year, Sacred Earth Journeys invites you to celebrate this celestial moment at the magnificent lost city of the Incas — Machu Picchu.

A view of Machu Picchu in Peru

Led by an Andean medicine man, healer and wisdom keeper, the Heart of the Pachamama tour includes destinations and experiences not available to most travelers in Peru, including:

• A shamanic energy cleansing ceremony at the royal baths and fountains in the ancient fortress of Ollantaytambo

A stay with locals in a small village overlooked by the snow-capped Andes mountains — a donation to the community’s weaving cooperative will be made on behalf of each tour participant to help preserve Andean weaving traditions

• A Heart Opening ceremony at the citadel the day before the spring equinox so that tour participants can connect with Pachamama (Earth Mother), the elements and universal energies

• Visits to Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuaman, Pisac and the Sacred Valley

An optional five-day extension to Lake Titicaca features excursions to the Uros Floating Islands and the legendary doorway of Aramu Muru.

This nine-day journey takes place from September 17-25, 2011. The rate for the main tour is $2,920 per person, land only, based on double occupancy.
