Adventure Worth Yakking About
Redefine Extreme Sports With Indian Yak Skiing

While they may have gone skiing in the Swiss Alps or the mountains of Colorado, your friends and family are sure to be impressed once you tell them you’ve been yak skiing in India.

A Tibetan yak

Remote Lands, renowned for its off-the-beaten path luxury adventures in Asia, is offering travelers the rare opportunity to go yak skiing in the Indian hill resort of Manali.

As part of this one-of-a-kind experience, a local guide will lead a herd of yaks up a mountain and attach the animals to a pulley at the top; you’ll then get to fasten yourself to the other end. Rattle your bucket of pony nuts at the bottom of the run and watch as the yaks stampede down the hill, which will then send you soaring up it. It’s ski-up, ski-down, as opposed to the traditional ski-in, ski-out.

Remote Lands will customize your itinerary for your particular needs and wishes. Prices for this adventure (which can be adapted to your desires) begin at approximately $1,000 per person per day and include the following:

Mountains near Manali

• Transportation into the Tibetan Mountains
• Dinner prepared by a personal chef in a private tent
• Guide-assisted yak climbing
• Dinner in the home of a local Indian family

Remote Lands also offers additional unique adventures, including rock climbing on Vietnamese Islands, Heli-Skiing and Snowboarding in the Himalayas and Tow-in Surfing in Sumatra.
