Hello Kitty Wine

The Ubiquitous Cat Now Has Her Own Wines

June 28, 2010

A Bottle of Hello Kitty Sweet Pink Demi-Sec Sparkler from Hello Kitty Wines
A cuddly cartoon cat and Italian wines would generally have no business being around each other. But when the cat is none other than superstar feline Hello Kitty—who happens to have a loyal following of drinking-aged women—suddenly a bottle of Hello Kitty Rosé makes complete and profitable sense.

Hello Kitty Wines is the brainchild of the Italian fashion company Camomilla, which manufactures and sells Hello Kitty licensed merchandise. The Milan-based company partnered with Torti Tenimenti Castelrotto, a boutique winery in Italy's Lombardy wine region, to produce the line of four wines adorned ever-so-cutely with pink labels featuring Ms. Kitty.

Currently available are: the 2008 "Angel," a white wine made entirely from Pinot Noir free-run juice; the 2008 Brut Rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir; the "Sweet Pink" Demi-Sec Sparkler; and the 2008 "Devil," a classically rendered Pinot Noir. The wines can be purchased at specialty wine and liquor stores including Wine Lab in Newport Beach, California, as well as a handful of online retailers. Prices range from $20 to $34.
