JW Marriott reveals their newest Wine Ambassadors program
November 15, 2010
JW Marriott Hotels and Resorts has announced a new program aimed at heightening guests' knowledge of wines. The JW Wine Ambassador’s program, available at 46 locations worldwide, will help guests make sense of the extensive —and often confusing— array of wine choices available.
A group of volunteer wine experts, known as the JW Marriott Wine Ambassadors, head the program at each location, supplying in-depth knowledge of wine serving, food pairing, and varietal characteristics. Wine Ambassadors must complete two certification programs, one in beer and spirits, and another in wine; a curriculum specially designed by Constellation Wines for the JW Marriott program. To ensure that their knowledge remains up-to-date, all certified ambassadors participate in monthly tastings around the globe.
In developing this program, Mitzi Gaskins, Marriott's senior director for brand management, hopes that the JW Marriott will be put on the map as a wine destination, where guests can participate in a personalized tasting as well as deepen their knowledge and appreciation of wine. The program will also enhance other areas of JW Marriott services, such as restaurant dining and catering.
