Tasting Notes:
The 2010 Lemberger is a light, approachable red. The grape is well suited to the Finger Lakes' cool climate and produces an easy drinking wine with attractive red fruit notes. On the nose it offers rose petal and berry aromas with hints of bramble and damp moss. A pleasingly delicate wine, its primary fruit flavors are of ripe cherry and tart apple. Pair it with lighter bodied winter dishes like roast chicken, grilled sausages and root vegetables or tuna in a red wine sauce.

Profile: Dr. Konstantin Frank is credited with shaping the Finger Lakes wine region, where he founded his Vinifera Wine Cellars in 1962. His success with Riesling is what many feel gave the region its identity and helped to earn the Finger Lakes' world class recognition. Next, Dr. Frank's son Willy's experimentations gave the area its first premium quality sparkling wines. Founder Konstantin's grandson Fredrick took over operations in 1993 and continues to grow the winery's reach and reputation. Currently, in addition to Riesling and sparkling wines, the Vinifera Wine Cellars produces Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Rkatsiteli, Pinot Meunier, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Lemberger and Merlot.
