Les Garrigues d'Eric Beaumard et Christophe Lambert

1998 Les Garrigues
Varietal/Style: Cotes-du-Rhône
Origin: Domaine de la Grand'Ribe
Vintage: 1998
Winemaker: Eric Beaumard
Rating: 13/20
Retail Price: n/a

Tasting Notes:
We got to know the 1998, but we can see the jovial and talented sommelier/ winemaker's touches in the new vintage. The 1999 packs a much more intense punch of flavor and complexity. They had fun trimming the 45-year-old vines and the results are paying off. We would not hesitate to raise the rating to 14/20. (Updated 12/13/01)

Domaine de la Grand' Ribe in France's Rhone Valley

Profile: Although he's best known as Tarzan and The Highlander, Hollywood legend Christophe Lambert is a real foodie. So much so that he has embarked on several food and wine-related projects. In France, he not only owns mineral water and food processing plants, but he also owns a vineyard where he produces Côtes-du-Rhône wines with partner and passionate [now] winemaker, Eric Beaumard. The duo cogitated to produce a fine beverage by building on the Domaine's old vines and improving the fruit concentration and other secret tricks.
