Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut Freixenet released its first cava in 1914, and 100 years later the Penedès, Spain-based winemaker is still producing luxurious sparklers using time-honored traditional methods. Blending Spanish varietals Macabeo and Parellada with international favorites Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut is fermented in stainless steel tanks using specially selected local yeasts. The resulting wine offers a sophisticated bouquet of roasted nuts and citrus fruit with flavors of lemon and melon that give way to a spicy finish. Rating: 13.5/20
