Also known as Pineau de la Loire, Chenin Blanc comes from the Loire Valley of France. Having the reputation of being a vigorous grape, it is the most widely cultivated varietal in South Africa, where it is called Steen. Used in the wine-making process of a variety of wines — from sparkling white wines to dessert wines — Chenin Blanc’s styles range from very dry to medium-sweet to intensely rich.
