Filipino Flavor in the City of Angels

Performers at the Annual Historic Filipinotown Cultural Festival

Historic Filipinotown is the new kid on the block when it comes to LA's ethnic neighborhoods. It was created in 2002 in an area that comprises parts of Echo Park and Silver Lake. This portion of LA pays homage to the cultural heritage of Filipino-Americans, the largest Asian-American subgroup in California.

Three major annual events are held to celebrate the Filipino community and to introduce others to its traditions: the Historic Filipinotown 5K Run/Walk, the Historic Filipinotown Cultural Festival and the Parol Parade, which is held during the holidays and features a beautiful lantern procession.
