The New Mexico History Museum opened its doors in May 2009 to educate the public on the people and cultures that have made the "Land of Enchantment" what it is today. View exhibits that focus on the indigenous people, Spanish colonization, the Mexican Period, and travel and commerce on the legendary Santa Fe Trail.

The museum also shares the campus with the historic landmark, Palace of the Governors.
