From a girl who grew up in “Southie” housing projects, self-taught chef Barbara Lynch now enjoys entertaining the city’s elite at her Beacon Hill restaurant. Her homemade pastas are particularly sought after; while Italian influences figure most prominently, there's a touch of French and other European cultures as well. The wine list is mostly old world, but the bar's mixology program is very modern. Not content to rest on her laurels, Lynch plans to open high-end French-Mediterranean restaurant Menton in 2010.
