Maharishi Ayurveda Deep Rest Herbal Supplement – Review
by Sylvie Greil
Sleep can be an elusive friend. We know certain people, and for them it’s “lights out” as soon as their head hits the pillow. We envy them. For us? Not so much. A good night’s sleep — at night that is, the important kind — has been a lifelong mission. Cue little pills. Ayurvedic little pills.
Ayurveda is an ancient health methodology from India. It relies heavily on diet and herbs and divides people into three types, vata (airy), pitta (fiery) and kapha (phlegmatic). For us, the burning fires of pitta are keeping our mind and digestion overactive until long after we turn off that night’s episode of “Mad Men.”
Maharishi Ayurveda’s Deep Rest supplement contains a slew of ingredients, among them Indian valerian (valerian root has been used in Europe for centuries for its calming properties), Shatavari (anti-spasmodic), Ashwagandha (stress- and anxiety-relieving), and delightfully familiar things such as clove, pepper, cinnamon and ginger. Take two tablets 1-2 hours before bedtime and wait for the zzz’s to arrive. And arrive they will. A mere placebo effect? Mind over matter? The power of Ayurveda? Try for yourself.
