The
British brand newly controlled by Ford is out to put an
array of seductive models on the market. These new specimens
incorporate new technologies and features to compete in
the fierce jungle of the automobile business. In this
case, let’s go with an all-wheel drive version.
We typically like this concept for safety and handling.
Approaching
the beast from the outside, there are no signs to distinguish
it from other X-Types. In the case of our test model,
we particularly liked the new color schemes, both outside
(topaz) and inside. You get a definite Jaguar styling
in the cabin, instantly delivering elements of luxury
(smooth leather, rich real grained wood) which will make
you want to spend time in it. Set up the front seats any
which way you want, tune in your favorite station, have
the climate control keep you at your desired temperature
and you are ready to go.

Should
you want to share this elegant experience, people in the
back seat, unless they’re small, might not have
the best time. But because it is compact, the car is quite
nimble in the city and a charm to maneuver. On the highway,
it is quite stable and corners admirably. Nevertheless,
we felt and heard something along the lines of sympathetic
resonance in the drivetrain at higher speeds (those much
above the posted speed limit, if you have to ask).
There
are a bunch of new age airbags and all systems are very
well-designed for the driver’s use, keeping in mind
the rules of ergonomics. Switches on and around the steering
wheel make it easy to operate the radio, cruise control,
DVD navigation and other things. Of course, you may choose
to engage in dialogue via Jaguar-Voice, should you wish
to select that option at your dealer.
Warranty/Service: Four-year/50,000 mile warranty, roadside assistance including
tire changing and fuel delivery and fully inclusive scheduled
maintenance for the duration of the warranty.
