2012 Fiat 500 Abarth Review

High-Performance Hatchback

A three-quarter front view of a white 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth

In short: A turbocharged, sport-tuned three-door mini hatchback.

Inspired by the legendary racer and car tuner Carlo Abarth, this sports version of Fiat's iconic Italian car features a quick, 160-horsepower turbocharged inline-4 along with sport-tuned suspension and brakes. Nearly doubling the Fiat 500's torque to 170 lb-ft provides plenty of available power, allowing the 500 Abarth to reach 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. Cool styling cues, including a striking two-tone color scheme, a restyled front air dam and Abarth's ubiquitous scorpion badge, let others on the road know this is no ordinary Fiat — even before you leave them in the dust.
