A (French) star-studded event for the 21st edition of COLCOA.

For the opening night of the 2017 edition, François Truffart, COLCOA Executive Producer and Artistic Director, had selected Academy Award®-winner/director Claude Lelouch’s latest movie, “Chacun sa vie” (Everyone’s Life). What a great choice!

This movie has one of the most impressive casts in the history of French cinema: Johnny Hallyday (Johnny), Jean Dujardin (Jean, Academy Award® for Best Actor for “The Artist”), Éric Dupond-Moretti (The Judge), Nadia Farès (Nadia), Christopher Lambert (Antoine de Vidas), Béatrice Dalle (Clémentine), Marianne Denicourt (Marianne), Mathilde Seigner (Mathilde), Julie Ferrier, Gérard Darmon, Stéphane De Groodt, Antoine Duléry, Ramzy Bedia, Déborah François, Chantal Ladesou, Liane Foly, Elsa Zylberstein, Vincent Pérez, Rufus, Zinedine Soualem, Vanessa Demouy, Francis Huster, William Leymergie, Jean-Marie Bigard, Samuel Benchetrit, Isabelle Pasco, Kendji Girac, Dimitri Naiditch, Laurent Couson, Isabelle de Hertogh, Philippe Lellouche, Solenne Rodier, Michel Leeb, Thomas Levet, Pauline Lefevre, Angelica Sarre, David Marouani, Raphaël Mezrahi. ONLY Lelouch could achieve such a performance. We are pretty sure that some of the scenes or lines from this film will become classics.

This AAA-team offered us 113 minutes of pure cinema delight, with humor, elegance, rhythm, unexpected storylines, charm, happiness — about life and people as Lelouch has accustomed us with all his movies. This one is his 46th, and we were happy to hear, after the viewing, that he wants to do more. We can’t wait to see “Chacun sa vie” another time, as we laughed so much (and missed some lines for sure). We are so ready to enjoy these tranches de vie (slices of life) captured by Lelouch; although, deeper down the movie is about serious life reflections.

And we all know that when the French throw a party, there must be food and champagne. Out of the dishes served, the winner was the English pea soup with carrots and pea tendrils from chef Tony Esnault (Spring restaurant, one of GAYOT’s Best New Restaurants in the U.S. 2016). The line was also long in front of Le Petit Paris, where owner David Rolland was serving pasta out of a Parmesan wheel and topping it with shaved black truffles.
