In September 2014, restaurateurs Lisa & Chris Bonbright opened Gracias Madre based on the idea that only organic plant-based ingredients are to be used for both the food and the drinks. They were told they were “crazy.” It would be much more accurate and appropriate to say that they were visionaries.

For ten years, undoubtable success has been on the plates, the patio like no other in this chic part of Melrose Avenue, and at the bar garnished only with tequila and mezcal, of course produced with artisanal methods. It is quite a large restaurant, and filling it up every day for lunch, dinner and brunch, is the proof they have been doing it right. Sadly for others, we have seen many vegan places come and go.
