The 25 Best New York Restaurants for Fall 2014
The establishments below are presented in alphabetical order. Chapter One — West Village This
gastropub-y spot offers a nice blend of boozy
concoctions and elevated pub grub in a casual
atmosphere. Daruma-Ya — TriBeCa An authentic
Japanese dining experience in TriBeCa. This isn't
your typical sushi place (for that, hit the spot in
the basement). At Daruma-Ya you'll savor Japanese
tavern cuisine at satisfying levels of
enjoyment. Decoy — West Village Ed Schoenfeld
and Joe Ng have turned the subterranean space below
RedFarm into a temple of Peking duck. It's worth
quacking about. Donostia — East Village The name is a
hint as to what type of Spanish fare is served here:
Donostia is the Basque word for San Sebastian. The
food and drink here will transport you to the Basque
metropolis in just a few bites (or sips). El Vez — Financial District Stephen Starr
has imported this Philly favorite to Manhattan's
Financial District for a nightly fiesta of potent
margaritas and tasty tacos.
