THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 28 Degrees Restaurant Review:
Sleek, silvery, see-and-be-seen---with its projector screens and its DJ booth, this South End lounge is two parts club to one part eatery. But that one part isn’t simply an afterthought; if anything, the menu has gained in substance, with contemporary small plates such as lobster sliders and Asian-accented scallop-pineapple ceviche now rounding out a larger selection of gourmet pizzas (chanterelles and parsnips and Parmesan, oh my) and handsomely presented entrées. Still, the kitchen seems to have slipped some in its execution; it may be that the food simply can’t compete with the scene, populated primarily by the meal-skipping, booze-sipping beautiful people. But a midweek deal that lets diners pick any three menu items for $28 might help refocus attention on the food.
