THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 500 Jackson Restaurant Review:

What was the Cypress Club for so long, then left empty, has now been transformed into a dining room with wonderfully tasty, and affordable, American seafood. Lined with rich, wood walls, filled with cushy booths and banquettes, and retaining the gorgeous tiled floor, 500 Jackson exudes a comfortable, gentlemen's-style club atmosphere. Executive chef Robert Murphy hails from SoMa's Restaurant LuLu. Here he prepares straightforward seafood dishes that give a nod to the wide variety of American seafood. A clam bake for two, including lobster and corn on the cob, or a rich chowder represent New England while succulent salmon smoked on a cedar plank speaks a strictly Pacific Northwest dialect. Smoked duck, crawfish and andouille gumbo reminds us of being in Louisiana as much as the New Orleans po' boy served with special Cajun pickles. Still, any local will have to take pride in the crab Louise salad, roasted whole Dungeness crab, and a nicely spicy cioppino brimming with an abundance of mussels, crabs and prawns. Non-seafood aficionados will appreciate the generous Landfood section of the menu. The well-chosen wine is seafood-friendly without being too selective.
