8407 Kitchen Bar Restaurant Review:

Despite its rather hidden side-street location, this Silver Spring restaurant has a lot going for it: a solid contemporary American menu crafted with farm-fresh ingredients and a lively upstairs dining room. This adds up to a pleasing experience, especially for those patrons who look for some Southern touches in their meals. Take, for example, the overstuffed oyster po’ boy, one of those New Orleans treats and a fine luncheon entrée. Just as satisfying is the chicken Caesar salad with a daub of white anchovies, a touch that perks up the flavor. The dinner menu is more formal, and includes such mains as a Berkshire pork chop and seared sea scallops with creamy polenta and chanterelles. (Former chef Justin Bittner has left the restaurant.) Desserts might include a mixed berry pie or flourless dark chocolate cake. The wine and cocktail lists are extensive, allowing guests the opportunity to go from Champagne to California Zinfandel and plenty of bar drinks in between. There are Monday evening wine tastings, too.
