Close, intimately spaced tables with warm lighting and a semi-open kitchen set the scene at this Hyde Park haunt. Chef Matthias Merges creates Italian/French fare, inspired by the Cote d’Azur. Start with shaved kohlrabi with Honeycrisp apples, manchego, walnuts and mint, or dive right into one of the house-made pastas, perhaps the basil rigatoni with lamb Bolognese, green garbanzo and four-year aged Gouda. Roman-style pizzas see toppings like country bacon and smoked duck. End the meal with PB&J donuts or homemade soft serve in rotating flavors. Cocktails are mainly standbys, such as gin and tonics and daiquiris. However, in addition to a small wines-by-the-glass selection, the sommelier can recommend something from the more extensive bottle offerings, with choices spanning from Spain and Italy to Germany and Austria. During market season, A10 presents “Tour the Garden,” a four-course dinner series highlighting seasonal fruit and vegetables. Happy hour specials are offered on weeknights.
