THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Abou Karim Restaurant Review:
The flavors are assertive here, and the aromas may entice you right from the sidewalk. Inside you'll find a brick-walled, high-ceilinged place that's a sweet, welcoming spot. This friendly refuge has gained a solid reputation for consistently well-prepared Lebanese cuisine. The spread of mezes, or appetizers---hummus, baba ghanouj, tabbouleh, falafel---make the perfect lunch, and when an appetite is really upon you, call for the kafta, a spicy ground lamb kebab with a nicely grilled crust. One of the more unusual items is karnabeet tarator: sautéed cauliflower topped with tarator sauce and sumac. Wash it down with Lebanese beer or Tunisian wine. On the weekends, enjoy some of Portland’s finest jazz artists over dinner.
