Easily one of the top choices for dining in southwest Portland, this refined restaurant focuses exclusively on the cuisine of Northern Italy's Piemonte region. The dining room is rustic yet comfortable, and the servers well trained. They carefully guide diners through the all-Italian wine list (all vintages are also available for retail sales) and the carefully composed menu of antipasti, pastas and main dishes. We recommend the house-made tajarin (egg noodles) with butter and sage and the ricotta gnocchi. Other traditional Piemonte choices include agnolotti dal plin, pasta filled with veal, pork and rabbit. Follow the pasta with lamb shanks braised with tomatoes and capers; anchovy loin chops with olive tapenade; or a grilled steak with fresh horseradish. It's as good as taking a mini Italian vacation.
