: The menu offered in this cozy, soft-colored room proposes a rich blend of Italian and central European influences --- think sauerkraut, goulash and strudel. Chef-owner Bruno Viscovi (from the town of Albona on the Istrian peninsula at the Italy-Yugoslavia border) has lovingly re-created the flavors he remembers from his childhood. You'll find chifeleti, pan-fried potato gnocchi in a beef sirloin and cumin sauce, and such entrées as braciole di maiale, pork cutlets stuffed with sauerkraut, apples, prunes and prosciutto. The wine list offers mostly Italian varietals, including overlooked gems from the Friuli and Alto-Adige regions. For dessert, try the competent strudel. |
