French-accented American cuisine in a clandestine room off of the Opia Lounge.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Andre Restaurant Review:
Ted Pryor, late of La Goulue and Les Halles, is at the helm of Andre, a French-inflected dining room attached to the Opia Lounge in the Renaissance New York Hotel 57. The room, accessed through the back of the bar, has a clandestine feel to it. And with the offerings from the kitchen, let’s hope diners find it. The smoked terrine of foie gras is nicely complemented by a Concord grape compote; lobster ravioli is accented with lobster bisque. For entrées, the hearty herb-crusted rack of lamb is elevated by its coat of mustard seeds while the lightly braised Maya shrimp (paired with squash) is a refreshing alternative. The wine list spans the globe, but solidly lands in France.
