THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Anne Marie's Carriage House Bistro Restaurant Review:
In Victorian-era San Antonio, the Sullivan Carriage House was the snazzy sidekick to a limestone mansion near downtown. In more recent times, it was moved stone-by-stone to a site adjacent to the San Antonio Botanical Center where it has taken on a new life as a gift shop and restaurant. The menu doesn’t pretend to be progressive: quiche, sandwiches, meatloaf and daily special crêpes typify the offerings. But there are subtle leanings in the direction of both Cajun country and the Southwest suggested by a blackened chicken muffuletta and chile-braised chicken served with corn salsa. Desserts, including Derby pie and loaded brownies, are worthy of consideration. Egg-centric dishes and french toast prevail at weekend brunches, which also offer companion cocktails.
