Ahh, Minnesota: the land of malls and honey. Live here long enough and you will inevitably eat in a strip mall. If you're lucky it will be well-equipped with an Applebee's. We like this frisky chain for its unabashed delivery of simple pleasures: thick, juicy burgers, tart (and cheap) margaritas and mammoth desserts that make your teeth ache. Applebee's strives to give everyone from families to singles something to like. You'll find generous salads like the grilled chicken Caesar, workmanlike fajitas and surprisingly good sandwiches. Desserts include a sizzling apple pie that’s crunchy with walnut streusel topping and finished with rich caramel butter sauce.
