Pretty basic décor, but the canvas chairs and plastic plates should not put you off, for this is one of the best places in London for barbecued meat. Bubba Helberg and his wife have been pleasing City traders, establishment figures and grateful North American visitors for years with steaks that Bubba chooses for texture and taste from nearby Smithfield Market. American and Irish beef come mainly in juicy, tender rib-eye steaks (around £14); also making spectacular appearances are lamb, excellent sausages and chicken sandwiches. Wonderful homemade sauce accompanies it all. There is a short wine list, long beer list and hefty U.S. puddings.
