Ashmont Grill Restaurant Review: The Ashmont section of Dorchester is home to this casual neighborhood hot-spot from Chris Douglass of Icarus fame. The brick walls, wood floors and high ceilings will remind you of an old mill space. For brunch, don’t miss the train wreck omelet, the breakfast version of the restaurant’s train wreck fries---sour cream, bacon, chives, jalapeños and melted jack cheese sitting prominently atop an egg layer; or for something sweeter, the apple pie french toast with roasted apples, streusel and maple syrup. Pair it up with a hot and spicy Bloody Mary. Dinner brings a panko-crusted cod filet, baked macaroni and cheese and wood-grilled leg of lamb. The wine list is somewhat brief but well chosen. End the meal with a slice of crumbly blueberry buckle. The cozy backyard patio and fire pit beckon on a cool summer night. |
