Assaggi Osteria Restaurant Review:

McLean’s main street area is a treasure trove of restaurants, among them the elegant Assaggi Osteria. The menu offers an array of house pastas, such as the unique lasagna made with thinly sliced eggplant; garganelli with beef, veal and pork Bolognese sauce; and tender gnocchi. Ask if the baby octopus salad is available; it’s a surprisingly delicate mix of tender octopus, potatoes, green beans and heirloom tomatoes. Desserts are classic Italian, from zeppoli to a hazelnut semifreddo. Assaggi Osteria has an extensive wine list and assorted interesting cocktails.
